Former Kasaishi Residence (a National Important Cultural Property)



 


The former Kasaishi Family Residence is a 200-year old, hipped-roof house. The thatched roof covers one large, flat room. The residence has no foundation, and its adze-finished beams sit directly on cornerstones. The building was designated an Important Cultural Property in 1967 in recognition of the traditional style, building methods, and materials used in its construction.
